How this lodge promotes good stewardship of the environment:

The unique design of the Galapagos Eco Friendly Hotel features the use of sustainable local materials and follows the principles of The International Ecotourism Society as well as the rules and regulations of the Galapagos National Park Service and Marine Reserve. As such, we:

Provide comfortable rooms and common areas that reflect the designs and heritage of our local culture;

Decorate the rooms with local materials and magnificent photographs of Galapagos wild life and marine life, all taken by the hotel's owner;

Offer a natural setting that has been carefully preserved and designed to echo and reflect endemic Galapagos flora that draws local birdlife and fauna to the hotel's environs;

Use locally produced and sustainable and/or recyclable building materials;

Purchase food and coffee from local farmers and even grow some of our own;

Use environmentally-friendly energy-efficient approved energy, water and waste systems, including water purification;

Offer opportunities for interaction with local owners, managers, staff and guides;

Use only LED lighting, 60% wind-power and have taken many other steps for ecological and environmental conservation;

Share our love of the Galapagos and its culture, wildlife, nature preserve and marine reserve with all of our guests, helping them have memorable lifelong experiences.

What To Do:

The Galapagos Islands and San Cristobal provide countless opportunities for nature lovers to see some of the most unique, intriguing and spectacular wonders of the world. With trips planned and often guided by the hotel's owner, Harry Jimenez, guests will have access to some of the favorite destinations within the Galapagos National Park and Galapagos Marine Reserve which are located in and around San Cristobal Island and its environs. Galapagos Eco Friendly is convenient to these and many more amazing adventures including snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, biking, hiking, touring, horse back riding, and zip lining. Among the sites that are accessible from the Galapagos Eco-Lodge are Kicker Rock, Frigate Bird Hill, Punta Pitt, Galapaguera tortoise reserve, the Interpretation natural and cultural history Center, Puerto Chino, La Loberia and El Junco to name just a few. We provide private pick up and drop off at either the dock or airport on San Cristobal Island. Taxis and private tour guides are easily available. We provide free bikes for our guests and the hotel is a very easy walk from the center of town and many of the major attractions of San Cristobal Island.
