Tinalandia is a Ecuadorian ecolodge 20 minutes north of the city of Santa Domingo and 2 hours south of Quito. Tinalandia is known for for being one of the best bird watching places in Ecuador according to Paul Greenfield author of the book The Birds of Ecuador. Tinalandia is also known for rare butterflies and moths that are found in only a few other places around the world. The protected reserve is home to many native Ecuadorian animals that visit the habited 65 hectare area in the evenings and early mornings. Tinalandia has been used by many scientific research groups over the years because of the plants and wildlife found on the property.
